Please note: Completion of this graduate program does not qualify students to sit for the national certification examination in Medical Laboratory Sciences / Medical Technology offered by the American Society of Clinical Pathology (ASCP) Board of Certification.

Applied Biomedical Sciences Curriculum

On-Campus: The Master of Science (M.S.) in Applied Biomedical Sciences program, offered fully on campus, is intended for professionals and recent graduates who want to gain practical, hands-on experience with current and emerging laboratory techniques.

Online: The , is intended for professionals working in hospitals, pharmaceutical industry, biotech and life sciences who want to move forward in their careers as laboratory managers.

The Master of Science degree program in Applied Biomedical Sciences requires the successful completion of a minimum of 30 semester hours of graduate level courses. These include 23 credit hours of core courses and 7 approved elective credits.

Professional Experience

*Research experience can also be obtained at the university or other research centers. Given the number of full time faculty in the department, the university will assist the Department of Biomedical and Nutritional Sciences and the students with arranging corporate internships. To be eligible for the Professional Internship, students will be required to have 1) completed a minimum of 12.0 credits of STEM courses, 2) completed a minimum of 6.0 credits of PLUS courses, 3) attained an overall minimum GPA of 3.000 and 4) department permission.

All Professional Internships require department faculty supervision. Students should register for MLSC.7700 during the final semester of internship participation.
