During the course of an average day at the University there may be as many as 15,000 people traveling on campus聽鈥撀爄n cars, on motorcycles, mopeds, bicycles, skateboards, scooters or on foot. This makes campus a very busy place, and can create dangerous situations for everyone if they don鈥檛 pay attention.聽Cross safely, drive safely: Pedestrian safety is up to everyone!聽

Did you know:聽You can be fined up to $200 for failing to yield to a pedestrian in a crosswalk.

Pedestrians: Take the Time to Cross Safely聽

  • Use pedestrian crosswalks and obey pedestrian walk/don鈥檛 walk signals.聽
  • Cross intersections carefully 鈥 don鈥檛 assume vehicles will stop.聽
  • Take extra care at dusk and dawn. Solar glare, darkness and rain can make it difficult for drivers to see you.聽

Drivers: Stop for Pedestrians!聽

  • Stop for pedestrians in crosswalks.

  • Beware of solar glare.聽
  • Don鈥檛 drink and drive 鈥 49% of all pedestrian fatalities involve alcohol, either by the driver or the pedestrian.
